NFL Mock Draft & Helmet Redesign Round 1
I decided to combine everyones two favorite things this time of year mock drafts and helmet concepts. I have no mock draft credit to my name but it seemed like fun. Now before you start yelling that the Steelers, Packers, and etc… should never change their look I did multiple concepts for each team. I only posted one per team per round but I messed with everyones tradition so reach up and unbunch. Round 2 designs are different than the first round. If you want to see more concepts click the name of the team by the pick it will take you to the team concepts page.
Ok, since it seems like most of you would rather say something nasty before bother to click a link. There are more than one helmet for each team click the team name link to see all the teams concepts. Then and only then do you get to bitch. You look stupid when you say I should have done something that is there. Burn that extra half calorie click the link.
Round 2 the helmets are different but I don’t know if will fill the mock part out but you people only look at the pictures so guess it works.
I am going to do this one with no trades and then a pick with trades so there will be two picks with per spot FYI
Jadeveon Clowney, DE/OLB, South Carolina (6-6/266)
I am putting Clowney here because everyone is putting him here, but it would not shock me if the Texans are making the pick for someone else. I just don’t see the Texans taking and keeping Clowney if someone throws a good offer on the table. Falcons, Browns, 49ers, Jags, Raiders are all teams I think could be in play for a trade here. I think the 49ers could be the big shocker of the draft trading Aldon Smith and his problem along with a handful of pics to move up to the number 1 spot. It is a long shot but I could see it happening on Thursday shocking everyone. The only real hurdle is the 49ers not having a higher 1st round pick but making this trade would be the same as taking Clowney and waiting to pick a QB at 33.
The other scenario is the 49ers and Texans make this trade and the Texans turn around and trade some of those picks for Mallett. In this scenario the Texans come out of the draft with Aldon Smith, Ryan Mallett, and some extra picks.
1. With Trade Atlanta Falcons
Jadeveon Clowney, DE/OLB, South Carolina (6-6/266)
Atlanta is the more likely trade partner moving up from 6. The Falcons could stay at 6 beefing up the O-line but getting Clowney is the sexy move so why not do it.
Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn (6-5/332)
The Rams need to protect Bradford if they are keeping him. I also wouldn’t be shocked if the Rams trade back with a team wanting Sammy Watkins. A trade that I think could get the draft all mixed up is the Browns trading up with the Rams to the 2 spot trading both of their first round pics and taking on the contract of Sam Bradford. I am sure there would have to be some late round picks swapped between the two as well.
The other crazy trade idea is that the 49ers package a bunch of their 11 picks to get an elite wr in Watkins. I really like the idea of the 49ers cashing in their piggy bank of picks for a top 5 pick.
With Trade 2. Cleveland Browns Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson (6-1/211) plus Sam bradford
Browns get the WR they want and add Bradford for a year to see if he get his career back on track. The Browns decide to use cap space and not future picks to move with from 4. This trade fixes the QB situation for this season and guarantees them the WR they want to pair with Josh Morgan.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo (6-3/251)
Everyone has the Jags taking Mack. I think it doesn’t matter who they take until they fix the QB situation which they seems to refuse to do every single year. So, since the Jags flub up the draft most years I am not spending too much time on them they are an Wild Card.
With trades 3. Jaguars Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn (6-5/332)
Jags add to the O-line providing whoever ends up at QB the protection that has been lacking for the last couple of seasons.
4. Cleveland Browns Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson (6-1/211)
Browns add another weapon and hope that a QB falls to them with the their second pick in the 1st or their pick on day two.
With trades 4. Rams Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M (6-0/207)
The Rams now with a hole at QB after including Bradford in the trade back take Manziel fearing that he will be gone at 13. Johnny Manziel in St. Louis is just a fun idea. Paired with speedy WR’s and RB’s the fastest show on turf is back.
5. Oakland Raiders Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan (6-7/309)
With trades 5. Raiders Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo (6-3/251)
The Raiders have added a bunch of old guys in free agency but they will be picking the best player on the board because they holes all over the place.
6. Atlanta Falcons Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M (6-5/308)
Protect Matt hand in the card if they stay at 6 it is that simple
With trades 6. Houston Texans Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida (6-5/232)
Texans trade back to 6 pick up a ton of picks and still get the QB they need and wanted without looking like they reached. Houston needs a QB if they pick one I think it will be Bortles. I like trading for Mallett better than Bortles this high.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M (6-0/207)
Bucs need a QB and a reason to watch Johnny Football gives them both.
With trades 7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (6-5/231)
8. Minnesota Vikings Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida (6-5/232)
The Vikings panic again and pick Blake leaving them to Ponder what they will do at QB.
With trades 8. Minnesota Vikings Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (6-1/285)
9. Buffalo Bills Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (6-5/231)
With trades Buffalo Bills Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M (6-5/308)
10. Detroit Lions Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State (5-11/199)
With trades 11. Detroit Lions Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State (5-11/199)
Dennard is the best corner in draft in my book he goes first in both versions of the mock
11. Tennessee Titans Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA (6-5/255)
With trades 11. Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA (6-5/255)
12. New York Giants Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (6-1/285)
With trades 12. New York Giants Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State (6-0/202)
The pick here has to be on defense I would think
13. St. Louis Rams Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State (6-0/202)
With trades 13. St. Louis Rams Hasean (Ha-Ha) Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama (6-1/208)
The Rams get deeper in the defensive backfield with either pick. They have a very good D-line with either pick it increases they chances that the pass rush can get to the QB.
14. Chicago Bears Hasean Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama (6-1/208)
With trades 14. Chicago Bears C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama (6-2/234)
The Bears do D because they are getting old on that side of the ball.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech (6-0/190)
With trades 15. Pittsburgh Steelers Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech (6-0/190)
16. Dallas Cowboys Odell Beckham, WR, LSU (5-11/198)
With trades 16. Dallas Cowboys C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama (6-2/234)
Who knows Jerry Jones is Fucking CRAZY
17. Baltimore Ravens Zack Martin, OL, Notre Dame (6-4/308)
With trades 17. Baltimore Ravens Zack Martin, OL, Notre Dame (6-4/308)
The Ravens need to add depth on the O-line a lineman is taken. I put in Martin because everyone is raving about him this week.
18. New York Jets Marqise Lee, WR, USC (6-0/192)
With trades 18. New York Jets Odell Beckham, WR, LSU (5-11/198)
J! E! T! S! need to be able to catch the ball after it is thrown they go WR.
19. Miami Dolphins Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina (6-4/250)
With trades 19. Miami Dolphins Marqise Lee, WR, USC (6-0/192)
Dolphins need OL and another weapon on offense. Ebron is the pick because he is still on the board.
20. Arizona Cardinals Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville (5-11/207)
With trades 20. Arizona Cardinals Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville (5-11/207)
Arizona could go QB here because Carson is old. I think they wait until the 2nd or 3rd since they were actually a decent team last year.
21. Green Bay Packers Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State (5-10/189)
With trades 21. Green Bay Packers Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina (6-4/250)
Rodgers! needs someone else to throw the ball at
22. Philadelphia Eagles Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana (6-2/215)
With trades 22. Philadelphia Eagles
Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State (5-10/189)
It has to be a WR here doesn’t it?
You get three KC helmets because that is my team. The Chiefs trading back from 23 is a possibility especially depending on the QB movement. In this mock with both Bortles and Johnny off the board I don’t see a trade here
23. Kansas City Chiefs Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia (6-6/314)
Chiefs lost a ton of O-line help and with the top tier WR off the board they go OT. The Chiefs could also do DE to pair with Hali at the same time freeing up Houston to roam and rush. I am hoping one of the top CB’s or Pryor fall because I am tired of seeing wideouts kill the secondary.
With trades 23. Kansas City Chiefs Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana (6-2/215)
24. Cincinnati Bengals Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State (6-1/237)
With trades 24. Cincinnati Bengals Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State (6-1/237)
They can pick the in-state guy and that is cool so why not.
25. San Diego Chargers Bradley Roby, CB, Ohio State (5-11/194)
With trades 25. San Diego Chargers Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri (6-4/273)
26. Cleveland Browns Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
The Browns pass on a QB at the top of the draft and roll the dice on Teddy and get him a glove assistant so he is never without a glove in Cleveland.
With trades 26. St. Louis Rams Joel Bitonio, OL, Nevada (6-4/302)
27. New Orleans Saints Jason Verrett, CB, TCU
With trades 27. New Orleans Saints Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
28. Carolina Panthers Joel Bitonio, OL, Nevada (6-4/302)
With trades 28. Carolina Panthers Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
29. New England Patriots Ra’Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota (6-6/310)
With trades 29. Oakland Raiders Derrick Carr, QB, Fresno State
DT of some form because Vince is old, hurt, pricey, and fat. Those are 4 things that are not good together.
The more likely scenario is a trade from the Pats. Someone will panic and want to jump the QB needy teams at the top of round 2
30. San Francisco 49ers Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame (6-2/331)
With trades 30. San Francisco 49ers Ra’Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota (6-6/310)
31. Denver Broncos Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri (6-4/273)
With trades 31. Denver Broncos Jason Verrett, CB, TCU
32. Seattle Seahawks Stephon Tuitt, DE, Notre Dame (6-5/304)
With trades 32. Seattle Seahawks
Stephon Tuitt, DE, Notre Dame (6-5/304)
No picks in Round 1
